Marzagan Night Out
On Friday 23rd January the Marzagan teams gathered at the HA! HA! Bar in Ealing for a night out organised by the members of each senior team; John Banian, Andre Dadayan and Ruth Tchaparian. This gathering was organised to increase unity within each group and for a few players to socialise with members of other teams whom they did not know before. It was planned that all players should meet at 8.00pm, with John reserving a very pleasant area on the side just for ourselves. However, Armenians have a tendency to be "Fashionably Late" and this was the case again, but I say better late than never. The location was fantastic, as it allowed us to mingle with each other and also have a drink with a bite to eat. As it came closer to 11.00pm and the bar closed, our sights shifted to what would be the next location. It was decided that all the players should make a move to Armenian owned restaurant Chico Mexico where we could enjoy ourselves further and round off the night in a more relaxing atmosphere. Here, the announcement was made that Homenetmen London would be participating in the 2004 Amsterdam Games in April which was great news to all the players. As well as this, the Homenetmen London Inter-European Games were officially announced which is this summer's main event to celebrate Homenetmen London's 25th anniversary. All in all, it was good night out and we look forward to more of the same.

Triumphant Juniors
On Sunday 25th January, the junior football team showed off it's talent during a series of friendly games played at our home ground in Osterley. Several months of tough training with their professional coach paid off as the team scored past the opposition in what seemed to be a string of easy wins. Well done boys!
Men's Basketball Friendly
On Sunday 25th January, Homenetmen Men's Basketball team played Richmond College in a friendly match... well, as friendly it gets!
Although it had been a while since we had played a game, I think all of us knew that this match was to reflect how hard we had worked and whether we had the teamwork that every team strives to achieve.
Half way through the match, in terms of points we were up by maybe 20. However the plays we had been taught over the last months were hardly being implemented.
After the locker room talk, we knew what we had to do; it was just about doing it!
Come the 2nd half, plays were gradually being initiated; however, some were poorly executed.
The score was still in our favour but as a team we knew we had more to achieve. From a player's perspective, a little more time and perfection and Homenetmen will need a trophies cabinet... not only for the ladies basketball and men's football teams, but also for us! Final Score: Homenetmen 54 Richmond 22 Source:- Razmik Keheyian
Football Team's Night on the Town
After months of discussion the senior football team decided that a night out in London on Saturday 20th December would be great for both bonding and a break from our regular football visits. After the eventful experience the football team went through at the Geneva games last year, this night out could only be seen to have a positive effect on team morale. Also, as a part of the celebration was the appointment of the services of our new coach Klauss. With respect to the team's past coaches this was by far the most promising acquisition Marzagan had completed. As for the actual night we decided to go out to TGI Fridays, Covent Garden, for dinner. A variety of dishes were on offer from 'dolma' to 'ghorme sabzi'... no, only joking, the majority of team ordered the Jack Daniel's steak, a very good suggestion from Raffi if I do say so myself. During the meal a few of the lads from Hagop to John took it upon themselves to make a few toasts to success in both 2004 and hopefully in the Amsterdam Games also. Some practical jokes on Arbi during dinner led to a more humorous and friendly atmosphere. After we had finished dinner, the team decided to go out for a few drinks. Arbi and Narbeh wondered into a bar with free entrance and a free drink. After making the most of it here we decided to head to a club called Digress off Regent St. The night was still young and after some chit-chat and drinking the team was surprised to find a huge dance floor which was absolutely packed. Very good signs for a promising night ahead. Unfortunately the night had to come to an end at some point, and this was when the bar shut. The boys decided to call it a night and with tired faces the team caught cabs back home to get an early start the following morning for training… yep that's dedication for you. Well, to be honest, I believe the night was a huge success. Not only was it a laugh but a great way for a few players to get to know each other that much better. The great success has led to a huge demand for another, which is being planned as we speak. To all those who organised the evening thank you for a great night out.

Warm-up Stretches: Dos and Don'ts...
Warm-ups help the body to prepare for the effects of exercise and reduce the chance of injury. The warm-up should be a combination of rhythmic exercises that begin to raise the heart rate and raise muscle temperature, and static stretching.
1. Always Stretch a Warm Muscle, Never a Cold One Do this by beginning your workout with a five-minute warm up at least in order to increase pulse rate and body temperature.
2. Stretch Smoothly - Never Bounce Begin slowly and smoothly. Working towards a position that starts to feel tight but never becomes painful.
3. Pain in a Stretch is Self-Defeating If you feel pain during a stretch, you are working against the body's loosening-up mechanism. Always ease into a stretch and hold it only as long as it feels comfortable. To do otherwise is to invite injury.
4. Remain Relaxed and Keep Breathing As you stretch it is important to keep your body relaxed. This can be accomplished by keeping your breathing even and consistent.
