Football Friendly
On Sunday 29th June, our UEFA B qualified coach, Leigh, arranged a friendly home game for the Homenetmen Senior Football team. Having improved greatly under his stewardship since February 2003, we felt confident going into the game on this sunny Sunday afternoon. After our exploits in Geneva, we were transformed into an organised, tightly knit compact team, attacking like the Liverpool of old.
The game itself was an education for us all as we were faced with an opposition littered with semi-professional footballers.
It was a great experience going back to school against players who were due to have trials at a host of top London Clubs. We learnt a lot, and conceded a whole lot more as we eventually lost 9-4 against this impeccable dream team.

Still talking about Geneva...
On 21st May, a month after returning from the 5th Armenian Inter-community European Games in Geneva, Marzagan Khorhoort together with the Geneva "Reporter Team" plus a few helping hands, organised a video showing and photo display of the tournament at the Saint Barnabas Hall in Ealing.
Unable to resist seeing what our very own Reporter Team had captured on camera during our weekend of fun and games, victories and defeats, a crowd of 60 gathered to watch the highlights, see the photos and enjoy the evening. Some came to reminisce and others came out of curiosity given the much talked about tournament. For those who missed our special coverage of the Tournament, click here to read the full report published in Issue 1 of e-Marz back in April.

Nalbandian Fact File...
Did You Know? David Nalbandian is a member of HOMENETMEN Argentina!
Cast your minds back if you will, to the middle of June when three Armenian tennis players were taking part in a little old tournament which takes place in London every year called Wimbledon. Mari-Gaianeh Mikaelian, Sargis Sargisian and David Nalbandian captured our imaginations and kept us on the edge of our seats every time they played, elevating our sense of national pride and putting us on the map of the Tennis world. In this article we concentrate on perhaps the most successful of these athlete's David Nalbandian.
The Homenetmen members reading this article may find that they have more in common with David than just their ethnic origin. David is a proud member of the Homenetmen family and in a recent interview with Homenetmen's 'Marzig' magazine he was reported to have said that his success was the direct result of his enormous effort, mental and physical preparation, the support of his parents and brothers and his Homenetmen family...

Just a few 'natural' sports first aid remedies...
Did you know? Top 5 Natural First Aid Remedies:
1. For aching muscles and joints after vigorous activity, add half a cup of bicarbonate of soda to a hot bath and enjoy a long, relaxing soak.
2. Sprains, strains and swellings can be treated by warming slices of onion in hot water, then applying them as a poultice.
3. Undiluted apple cider vinegar is an excellent antiseptic. A hot compress of apple cider vinegar will also reduce swelling and give relief.
4. Comfrey ointment, available from large supermarkets and health food stores, is excellent for treating bruises.
5. And finally, as most you Armenians will know, 'Madzoun' is good for everything and anything!
