Player’s Commentary |
Pete started his journey with basketball at the age of 6
with his school team in the States. He continued to play in college where he
reached the national final with North Rhode Ireland Junior College but
unfortunately they lost.... Pete never gave up he kept on playing and at the age of
21 he was voted "Player of the
year" in the Massachusetts conference. Pete eventually moved to Europe to play professionally
in Germany, Portugal and finally in the U.K. He moved to Germany in 1995 and played for the teams
Langen, Koblenz and Ruhr (with whom he won the division). After playing for a season in Portugal with Estoril
Basketball club he moved to the U.K. He played for the Manchester Giants, the
London Leopards and is currently trying to play for London United (believe me
I have seen him TRYING to play...). Now enough about him as a player, let’s move on to his
coaching career and success. Pete started coaching in 1995. He is known for his
"Summer Camps" and "Shooting Camps". Why shooting.... ‘cause the man can shoot.....and shoot
from any place, corner or position, regardless of if you’re in his face or
not he will shoot and you know what he scores... Pete’s life is basketball. He coaches several school
teams, London United junior programs, Brunel University and us, HMEM men’s
Basketball team. Unfortunately he hasn’t won any trophies as a coach yet,
he’s relying on us ... (no comment). I have seen Pete as a coach and as a player and guys
this man can talk as much as he shoots.... (and that’s a lot). He talks before the game, during the warm up, while he’s
coaching and while he’s playing. He also likes to collect technical fouls....
he loves the referees. But if you want to know how many baskets he scored check
out the fourth quarter (Money time) and its always multiple’s of three... There’s only one more thing to say about Pete Deppisch
and that’s that we wish him all the luck in the world, he’s a top bloke and a
top coach! Read the latest 'Ealing Times' report on London United's game where Pete gets numerous mentions for his top scoring capability which includes 4 successive three pointers! |

Player’s Commentary |
Lets see, where to begin about coach Sevan Artin. Well
firstly since he began coaching us there have been 2 major differences within
the team and those have been the welcome additions of the 2 trophies we
proudly won in Geneva (2003) and Amsterdam (2004). Some may think it was easy
but if you've ever been to one of our training sessions you will know better
(if you don’t believe me I dare you to join in). I know I speak on behalf of
all the girls when I say we couldn’t have done it without him. So what is Sevan like as a coach? He is hard working,
determined, dedicated and humorous. Hard working because all he thinks about
is basketball and ways in which we can improve our game. You may be wondering
what state his social life is in, well we wonder too! Determined because he has specific
targets set for us and no matter how much blood, sweat and tears we go
through we WILL achieve them (and believe me there is plenty of blood, sweat
and tears!). Dedicated because lets be honest anyone
that can put up with 10 Armenian ladies for 2 hours, twice a week, surely has
dedication (or a few screws loose). Finally, how is he humorous you may be wondering?
Well it’s all those funny comments he makes, like "if this was Lebanon I
could have shot you for that pass" or "if only I had my gun then I
could make you run". He really has a great sense of humour ‘cause we
know he loves us really, don’t you coach? |
